My therapeutic approach is based on trying to understand what behaviors and symptoms are telling us and what is causing them. While many therapists are solely focused on providing coping skills to alleviate symptoms, I am trying to identify the underpinnings. From here, with a better understanding of what is informing behaviors, work closely with my patient to develop ways to cope and relieve symptoms. I am particularly sensitive to one’s biological, genetic, neurological, familial and societal factors that influence one’s personality development.
I am trained in Psychodynamic therapy, CBT, Level 1 EMDR, DBT, Play therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), Attachment, Regulation, and Compentency Framework.
In working with children my focus is helping them get back on the developmental track and improve their relationships with others. I work extensively with parents in educating, supporting, and including them in the treatment process.
