In 2010, I decided to return to college to finish my undergraduate degree in Speech Communication from Utah Valley University. I went on to receive my Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Westminster College in 2015.
In my practice, I see mostly children and adolescents where much of my work is focused on foster care and post adoption.
I also hold a post graduate certificate in Child and Adolescent Psychodynamic Psychotherapy program from the Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute.
Long before I decided to return to college, I educated myself on understanding attachment especially in the context of how it is impacted by early childhood trauma.
During that time I presented at adoption conferences, offered parenting classes, and ran a support group for many years for parents raising children that had early trauma, and disruptions.
I also wrote a book, Love Lessons, about my own experience raising a daughter whom we adopted from Belarus in 2004. I have shared my experiences in both national and local media.
I am married to Jay, who is a devoted husband and father, and incredibly supportive of me.
I have 4 amazing children: Cameron, Grant, Noah, and Victoria who have been my greatest teachers in understanding and practicing courage, compassion, and connection. My family is my greatest joy.
I love to travel and read. I love libraries, live theater, and nature. I play tennis and love watching all kinds of sporting events with my family.
